The shipping costs page shows some abbreviations; "xx" betekent; "no information yet". "Dco" means; "Damco Maritime". "$20/wm" means, 20 US$ is charged for every cubic meter / 1000 kgs, as freight cost from harbour Rotterdam to harbour in country of destination. Rates are in Euro's.

What are "standard-shipping costs"?

The "standard-shipping costs" can be read on the shipping costs page, for a combination of a destination and a specific packaging. Please note the following:

  • In order to keep things simple, some "standard packaging" are used as examples. Try to imagine for yourself which of these boxes, parcels and pallets is most suitable for the goods you want to have shipped.

For "bigger" equipment (which needs bigger pallets than 100x120cm) shipping costs on request. However, you can get an indication of these bigger pallets by multiplying the extra cubic meters with the Damco rate "Dco$xx/wm" and add that to the 100x120cm pallet.
  • You choose, on the shipping costs page, the country where the goods have to be sent to, later on, if needed also the region or harbour, and you see the rate as well as the appropriate shipper.
  • The prices mentioned are only valid as an indication. On the basis of this rate however, you can safely agree with the "standard shipping costs" as requested on the order form.
  • The rate of the TPG, GLS en DFDS is "door to door"; from Leiden to a final destination, but the rates do not include customs clearance and import taxes (if applicable). Within the E.C., customs clearance and import taxes do not apply. For some destinations outside the E.C., GLS shows the amount for customs clearance (indicated as "cust. xx").
  • The Damco Maritime shipping rate covers the shipment from Leiden, via Rotterdam harbour, including customs clearance, export-documents, loading on board the vessel and seafreight until harbour in the country of destination. The costs in the harbour of destination, like unloading, custom clearance, import duties and transport to customer' are not included. These shipments apply to destinations outside the E.U.
  • The costs in the country of destination cannot be indicated in Holland. You better inform about these matters at the local custom office or an import/export agent.
  • Packaging costs are not included. For the packaging of a pallet (standard packaging= wrapped in cardboard and plastic foil) we normally charge 50 Euro's. Prices for crating on request.
  • Transport costs for other pallet sizes and destinations on request.

You can calculate the Damco Maritime shipping costs yourself, if you know the dimensions and the weight of the goods. The rates, however are subject to change without notice; the calculated rates are just an indication.
