Originally developed for monotype printmaking, Akua Kolor can also be used for other techniques, such as Japanese woodcut and drawing on paper. Akua Kolor has an exceptionally rich working consistency which "feels right" for both additive and reductive monotype techniques. It stays wet on the plate for a very long time, allowing many hours to create an image. Akua Kolor can be used right out of the bottle for brushwork or for rolling up thin coats of ink onto monotype plates. By adding Tack Thickener, the consistency will thicken for heavier applications. Akua Kolor has a unique transparent quality that makes it ideal for printing many layers of ink, one on top of another. It can also be used with Akua Intaglio for multi-plate overlays, or viscosity monotypes. Akua Kolor uses only the highest quality light fast pigments and gum binders. Without chalk, suspending agents, or polymers. Akua Kolor allows the brilliance of each color to really come through. Akua Kolor prints best on dry paper and cleans up easily with water.

A stainless steel baal is enclosed in some bottles to ease the mixing/shaking of some of the heavier pigments. |
