Lanaroyal is made on a cylinder mould machine. 100% rag (cotton). On average cotton based paper is stronger than cellulose paper and the surface is softer. The dimensional stability is also better, because cotton fibers do not expand as much as cellulose fibers when moistened. This paper distinguishes itself by its high volume and suppleness. Particularly effective and detailed prints can be achieved with the matt, satin soft surface. The paper is internally sized with a synthetic, acid-free glue. This paper - originally developed for the traditional print making techniques - is suitable for modern, fast running printing machines due to their homogeneous but firm and robust surface. Manufactured with 2 natural deckle edges and 2 torn edges as well as an elegant embossment in the bottom right corner it supports the beauty and gracefulness of the artistic print techniques. Lanaroyal is acid free and archival according to DIN 6738, ISO 9706, ANSI Z 39.48-1992.
Application: lithography, copperplate printing, intaglio, letterpress, screenprint, embossing, gold leaf, painting techniques, offset printing. The sales of the Lana "special papers" has been taken over by Hahnemühle a few years ago. That is why this paper can be found under Hahnemühle. In the year 1590, Demenge Harlachol founded a paper mill in the Vosges area near a Gallo-Roman settlement named "Villa LANA". He was the first master craftsman for paper manufacturing at LANA.
