(foliated pages, last folio incorrectly numbered 127, should be 131) + index, the foredges of the parchement binding have been nibbled at by vermin, cracked hinges on the inside of both covers, but the bookblock is in good condition, heraldic woodcut on title page (heraldic crest of Friesland), some decorative woodcut elements (initials and endpieces), illustrated with two woodcut coats-of-arms of Friesland, an engraved portrait of the author (by Pieter Feddes of Harlingen, 1586-1623) and 53 etchings, good impressions, some contemporary handwritten notes on the title page, library stamps (3x) BOUND WITH: Monastery of Westphalia, Typis Lamberti Rasfeldii, 1609, "Frisia seu de viris rebusque Frisiae illustribus, libri duo", 4o., some pages show browning and there is a wormhole in the last few pages, but the printwork is in excellent condition, illustrated with woodcut heraldic coats-of-arms and some decorative woodcut initials. l Hamconius (1550?-1610) was (substitute-) grietman of Lemsterland and Doniawerstal in Friesland and chose the Spanish side during the Dutch Revolt, which forced him to leave Friesland afterwards. This book is his main work, first published in 1609 (3rd edition in 1623). The reprints are illustrated with 53 impressive full page etched full body portraits of the counts and lords of Friesland and their coat-of-arms, with decorative margins, a landscape in the background with some scenes related to their person.
