C.I. Pigment Brown 6. History and application: 19th century. Main component is the colorant red iron oxide. An artificial mineral pigment. Can be used with all binders. Has good colouring capacity, light fast and reasonable coverage. Heat resistant.

C.I. Pigment Yellow 42. History and application: 19th century. An artificial mineral pigment. Can be used with all binders. Good light fastness, with good colouring and coverage. Heat resistant.

C.I. Pigment Red 102 History and application: 17th century. From fired terracotta clay, including roof and floor tiles. These contain iron oxide. Colour varies from orange to a warm brownish-red. At Verfmolen De Kat we use the wind to grind old Dutch roof tiles to make our own tile red. Can be used in oil, watercolour and acrylic paints

History and application:
20th century
A synthetic inorganic pigment.
Can be used with all binders. Exceptional colour and coverage. Does not withstand heat.

C.I. Pigment Red 102 History and application: Ancient From volcanic rock found in Italy. Can be used in all techniques. Especially good in fresco thanks to mild hydraulic properties.

C.I. Pigment Green 7/ 17/ Pigment Yellow 83/55/ Pigment Blue 15:3/ Pigment Black 7. History and application: 20th century. A mixture of colours: various yellows, black and greens. Can be used in all techniques, especially oil paint.

C.I. Pigment Red 102 History and application: Ancient. Minerals from the earth’s crust. Quarried or mined from the ground. The first pigments known to mankind. Mineral colours from France and Italy. Are available in a range of yellow and red shades. Can be used with all binders.

C.I. Natural Brown 9. History and application: 19th century. Derived from the ink gland of the Mediterranean cuttlefish. Can be used in watercolour paint. Sepia powder is transparent.

C.I. Pigment Yellow 43 History and application: Ancient .Siena is a natural mineral pigment. Originally from Siena (Tuscany, Italy), later also from Corsica, Sardinia, Germany, Spain and Asia Minor. Can be mixed universally. Cannot withstand fierce heat.

C.I. Pigment Red 3/ Pigment White 18. History and application: Late 19th century. Derived from the organic toluide and lime. Can be used in poster paint. Does not withstand solvents. Bleeds through: do not allow to contact other paints.
